Lying in the Grass I finally went and rolled around in the grass in the backyard. It's funny how many people drove by giving me funny looks lying in the grass with a camera. They just don't understand...its ART! Ahem... This was fun, I've never done a self portrait shoot outside before as I really only started doing self portraits in the winter. I don't lie in the grass very often but I think I'm going to make a point to do it more often. I love the feel of the cool grass beneath me. Even as much as I hate bugs, it's worth the possibility of coming across a couple for the wonderful experience of laying or sitting in the grass. Reminds of that movie Madagascar "Nature! It's all over me! Get it off, get it off, get it ooooofff!!" ;o) I love how all of these shots are coming out. All of the ones I posted today are SOOC. Have I mentioned this camera is freaking AWESOME?! Spring, green grass (where the leaves you haven't raked haven't turned the grass brown, ahem...), flowers, green leaves, it all makes me so happy. Driving around with the windows (and occassionally the convertible top now) down and smelling the flowers, fresh cut grass, I just love it. Maybe today will be a happy day. I sure hope so. I was happy after I did this shoot yesterday afternoon, I was extremely happy with the way they turned out and I think I'm residually happy from all that today. So, happy day! ;o) St Mary's In The Wood The Church was tragically gutted by fire earlier this year in the early hours of 12th June 2010, devastating church members and many people in the local community. St Mary's has certainly held a pivotal role in the history of Morley as its sign suggests: 'The history of St Mary in the Wood covers over 1,000 years. It is recorded in the Domesday Book 1086. On the 25 September 1650, a lease was granted to local Presbyterians for 500 years. The freehold was bought in 1950 and presented to the Congregation Trustees. Worship changed to Congregationalism at the turn of the 19th century. In 1967 St Mary-in-the-Wood, Rehoboth and St Mary's Mission joined together as the Congregational Church of Morley. On 5 October 1972, the name of the Church reverted to St Mary's-in-the-Wood on the formation of the United Reformed Church (Congregational and Presbyterian). It is the only instance in England or Wales of an ancient Episcopal place of Worship which did not return to the Established Church at the Restoration of the Stuarts in 1660.'
